Software and data file downloads are further down on this page.
DUATS is pleased to offer Cirrus for DUATS, the Windows gateway to the Direct User Access Terminal System. Cirrus will connect to DUATS via our free 1-800 number (1-800-767-9989) and via the Internet.
This software allows you to request most DUATS functions off-line using an intuitive graphic interface. After you decide on what you need for your flight, all you need to do is click on the "Dial" button (for the 1-800 number) or the "Connect" button (for the Internet) and Cirrus downloads the requested information without further user intervention. You may immediately review the information in a window within Cirrus or recall it later from file(s) saved to your disk.
Cirrus lets you view your route of flight graphically with its extensive database of airports and navigational aids by pointing and clicking on a map. You can use the DUATS automated flight planner to rapidly plan your flight. Cirrus can obtain from DUATS a full weather briefing for your selected route of flight, or for specified areas.
Additionally, by downloading graphic weather maps you may see at-a-glance the weather on your route of flight.
You can now access all the functions of DUATS, including enhanced free Color Graphics, through an Internet Connection via your ISP. If you are connected to a Local Area Network (LAN) with Internet access, Cirrus will automatically connect. If you use a dial-up service to an Internet Service Provider (ISP) you must first make the dial-up connection.
DUATS Cirrus Version 5.0 will run on Microsoft Windows 95 and newer operating systems. If you are running Microsoft Windows 3.1 or Windows 3.11, you must use Cirrus 2.2. There are no plans to offer a Macintosh version of Cirrus.
Cirrus software version 5.0 is now available!

The Cirrus Airport and Navigational Aids database is available on a 56-day update basis.
To reduce download time and make Cirrus' display less cluttered, database updates are now available in three versions: all airports, airports with at least one runway of 2,500 feet or more, and airports with at least one runway of 5,000 feet or more. Note: The type of runway and its surface could be of any construction: asphalt, concrete, turf, etc. Please check the FAA's Airport/Facility Directory or other official information to ensure that the airport's runways will meet the needs of your aircraft for landing and takeoff.

Installation instructions for database updates are given below.
| *****************Important Notice ************** |
| Cirrus 5.0 needs to be loaded into a clean directory. If you elect
to load it in an existing Cirrus Directory you must remove all previous
Cirrus files from the "Cirrus" directory and all files from the subdirectory
"DATA".
Exception: Saved flight plans with extension .GTE do not have to be removed and the Cirrus.ini file does not have to be removed. If you elect to remove the .INI file make sure you have your Access code and password to re-enter. |
There are quite a few new airports in this file, especially the file that contains "All Airports and Navaids," compared to the original Cirrus database. When you do a database update, it will ovewrite the following data files in the C:\cirrus\data directory:
FAA.DAT FAANAMES.DAT NAMES.DAT VOR.DAT
NOTE: This update will not affect the user defined waypoints you have entered into Cirrus.
Attention! Since Airport and Navaid data changes every 56 days, loading this new information may affect the routes you have saved. Please validate all of your saved routes to ensure you are using the current navigation data in your flight routes.
If you have any problems, suggestions or comments about Cirrus please e-mail them to cirrus@duats.com
