Windows 3.1 and Windows 3.1X (Windows for Workgroups)

Cirrus software is a 32-Bit program for Windows 3.1 and 3.X (Windows for WorkGroups). Users need to download the 32-Bit drivers which allows your computer to run Win 32-based applications.

Downloading 32 bit drivers

  1. Create a temporary directory on your hard drive.
    - To create a temporary directory open your File Manager, click on File, click on Create Directory, and at the prompt type C:\TEMP. If you already have a TEMP directory, name it TEMP1 or TEMP2.
  2. Download the pw1118.exe file to the temp directory you created.
  3. After the pw1118.exe file is downloaded into your temp directory use your File Manager to open your temp directory and then click on the Windows 3.1 and Windows 3.1X (Windows for Workgroups) pw1118.exe file. The file will expand itself to aproximately 20 or more files.
  4. Refresh the directory listing by checking on Window, then clicking on refresh.
  5. In your TEMP directory look for a file called setup.exe, and click on it. This file installs the 32-Bit driver into your computer.
